Free Radical is an outdoor conditions app providing weather, forecasts, tides, avalanche danger, snowpack, wind aloft, wildfire, air quality, moon data, river flow, marine swell, golden hour, climbing routes, fishing conditions, water temperature, solunar bite times, and trip and gear planning for outdoor activities. This policy explains what data is handled when you use the app.
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to our servers. The developer has no access to your data.

To provide conditions data, the app communicates with the following third-party services. Your GPS coordinates and/or search queries are sent to these services as part of normal app function. Free Radical has no control over how these services handle your data. Please review their individual privacy policies.
The app requests access to your device's location to automatically load conditions for your current position. Location data is used only to fetch conditions data from the third-party services listed above and is never stored on external servers by us. You can deny location access and search for locations manually at any time.
The app requests access to your photo library solely to allow you to set a custom background photo for each activity mode. Photos you select are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded or transmitted anywhere. Photo library access is only triggered when you explicitly long-press an activity photo to customize it.
The app reads your device's built-in barometric pressure sensor (if available) to supplement weather data with a local pressure trend. This sensor data is processed entirely on-device and is never transmitted anywhere.
The app may request permission to send local notifications. If granted, notifications are used solely to remind you of upcoming trips you have saved in the app. All notifications are scheduled locally on your device. No notification data is transmitted to external servers. You can revoke notification permission at any time in your device settings.
Free Radical uses Expo's over-the-air update system to deliver app improvements without requiring a full App Store or Google Play update. When the app launches, it may contact u.expo.dev (operated by Expo / Vercel) to check for available updates. No personal information is included in this request. Only the app's identifier and current version are transmitted. This is standard behavior for apps built with the Expo framework.
All app data (recent searches, cached conditions, trips, gear loadouts, and custom photos) is stored locally on your device. This data is never transmitted to the developer. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data permanently.
Free Radical is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any data from children.
This policy may be updated as the app evolves. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
